Howdy Bitcoiners!
Hello from Palo Alto, California, where I am based for the next month. It's been 20 years since I lived here, so this is a nice break from the Texas heat to catch up with my old Stanford friends.
I'll keep this note short. I'm working on some new research on Bitcoin. The first is the worst-case analysis of investment returns, for which Bitcoin does remarkably well. The second is on the expected value of mining Bitcoin, which is useful for quantitatively calculating the embodied energy within Bitcoin. I will have longer posts later this summer on both of these topics. I also aim to meet many of the Bitcoiners in the Bay Area.
For this newsletter, I aim to write once or twice a month on the free version, which will cover some of my thoughts and opinions on Bitcoin for a general audience. Many of these will be posted at a later point to Forbes, where I am writing a column on Bitcoin. Once or twice a week, I will write more inside baseball on the paid version of this newsletter, including details/impressions from specific meetings with Bitcoiners, as well as more detail on my research, e.g. full text of my research papers and chapters from my book-in-progress, Banking in Bitcoin. I also will include some of my personal assessments of specific Bitcoin companies (e.g. Swan, Lightspark, River, Unchained) as well as other opinions that I'm not willing to disclose publicly.
Hey Korok! Happy to hear all is well. Please check out Charles Edwards at Capriole Investments, he has a great model regarding Bitcoin's Energy Value. Could be a good place to start. I'm excited to compare findings with you.
